INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Simply take a small amount of balm on your fingers and spread and massage it over the area.
It is important to wash your hands after application and to follow some precautions :
- It should not be applied near the eyes, or on mucous membranes such as those of the mouth, nostrils, vagina, rectum or penis.
- It should not be applied to open wounds, irritated, inflamed, reddened, cracked or dry skin.
- Do not apply before or after exposing your skin to heat and humidity, such as a hot shower, sauna, or hot bath. Also, do not apply to skin that has already been heated in another way, such as with an electric blanket.
- It is generally not recommended for children under 12 years of age and is contraindicated in children under 3 years of age.
- There is very little research on the use of tiger balm during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so it is not recommended in these situations either.
However, this remedy is not harmless :
- As side effects , it can sometimes cause redness, itching, burning sensation, skin irritation, and breathing difficulties (when applied to the chest for congestion).
- And there are also allergies ; there are cases of dermatitis likely attributable to the use of these ointments. In fact, one of their ingredients is eugenol, a fragrance classified as allergenic. Therefore, if someone is sensitive and has never used Tiger Balm, it's best to test a small amount on their forearm. Wait a full day and see if there are any allergic reactions before applying the balm to a larger area.
