Having high levels of LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) and triglycerides, and low levels of HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol) circulating in the blood plasma, increases the risk of developing arteriosclerosis and, therefore, cardiovascular disease. According to the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI), hypercholesterolemia is present if total plasma cholesterol is equal to or greater than 200 mg/deciliter of blood.
To help maintain normal cholesterol levels and reduce cardiovascular risk, experts recommend dietary measures such as using extra virgin olive oil as the primary source of fat, increasing consumption of plant-based foods, and avoiding processed meats. Do not consume 3 mg or more of monacolins daily from red yeast fermented rice. This product should not be consumed by pregnant or breastfeeding women, children and adolescents under 18 years of age, or adults over 70 years of age. If you experience any health problems, consult your doctor before consuming this product. Do not consume with cholesterol-lowering medication. Do not consume if you are already consuming other products containing red yeast fermented rice.
