PRESENTATION

What is Nasya Oil?

Nasya Oil is an Ayurvedic herbal oil specially formulated for nasal application, one of Ayurveda's most effective traditional practices for the care of the mind, senses, and respiratory system.

This treatment, known as Nasya Karma, is part of the five major procedures of Panchakarma and is aimed at purifying and nourishing the head, neck and sinuses, eliminating the excess of accumulated doshas.

Maharishi Ayurveda's Nasya Oil formulation combines a sesame oil base with carefully selected herbal extracts that provide calming, decongestant, rejuvenating, and toning properties:

Sesame oil (Sesamum indicum) is valued for its ability to penetrate deeply into tissues and nourish the nervous system. It is warming, light, and balancing, making it ideal for daily nasal use.

Goat's milk soothes the nasal passages, provides nourishment to the delicate tissues of the head, and improves the absorption of the active ingredients of plants.

Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is a rejuvenating plant (rasayana), ideal for calming and strengthening the central nervous system. In Nasya Oil, its action supports mental clarity and emotional balance.

Vasa (Adhatoda vasica) is a potent expectorant and respiratory decongestant used in Ayurveda to treat sinus, throat, and lung problems. It relieves congestion and improves respiratory capacity.

WHY USE IT

Why use Nasya Oil?

Regular use of Nasya Oil within an Ayurvedic routine promotes the overall well-being of the respiratory, sensory, and mental systems.

Ancient Ayurvedic texts describe the nose as the gateway to "Shirah" (the head) and, therefore, the entry point for prana, the vital force that enters the body through breathing. For this reason, these texts emphasize the importance of healthy breathing to ensure a good flow of prana throughout the body. This is said to strengthen the senses and promote the circulation of prana.

By applying a few drops of Nasya Oil to the nostrils, this herbal oil acts directly on the energetic and physiological channels of the head:

• Improved breathing and relief from congestion:
It acts as a natural decongestant, helping to eliminate excess mucus, relieve sinusitis, and clear the airways. Ideal for cold weather, dry environments, or situations involving respiratory allergies.

• It provides mental clarity and emotional balance:
It nourishes and calms the nervous system, promoting concentration, mental clarity, and emotional stability. It is an excellent practice for people with stress, insomnia, or mental fatigue.

• Stimulates the senses:
Prana, or vital energy, is absorbed through breathing. By keeping the nasal passages clear, Nasya Oil enhances the flow of prana to the brain and senses, revitalizing the sensory organs, especially sight, smell, and hearing. It is particularly recommended before meditation or yoga.

• Prevention and longevity:
Daily use of Nasya Oil strengthens the sensory organs, prevents premature aging of scalp tissues, and improves local immunity. It also acts as a natural barrier against harmful environmental particles and pollutants.
