Vitamin C, belonging to the group of water-soluble vitamins, plays a role in maintaining healthy bones, teeth, and blood vessels, as it is essential for the formation and maintenance of collagen. It protects vitamins A and E from oxidation, as well as some B complex compounds (thiamine, riboflavin, folic acid, and pantothenic acid). It also has anti-infective and antitoxic properties and aids in the absorption of non-heme iron in the body.

Ascorbic acid cannot be synthesized by the body, so it must be obtained from foods that provide it: green vegetables, citrus fruits, and potatoes. Like humans, animals cannot synthesize it either; therefore, no animal-based foods contain this vitamin.

Vitamin C oxidizes rapidly, so it requires careful handling when exposed to air, heat, and water. The less heat applied, the less vitamin C is lost. Packaged fruits, due to heat exposure, have already lost a significant portion of their vitamins. The same is true for dehydrated products. In fruit juices, oxidation is exacerbated by prolonged exposure to air and by not storing them in dark containers.

Vitamin C is necessary for collagen formation, proper wound healing, tissue repair and maintenance throughout the body, and also for the synthesis or production of hormones and neurotransmitters. Like other vitamins, it is a powerful antioxidant.

Composition per tablet:

• 280 mg of L-ascorbic acid.
• 100 mg of sodium L-ascorbate.
• 87 mg of orange bioflavonoids.
